Dr. Jayanti Patel – performing artist, playwright, director, humorist, journalist, cartoonist is known as 'Ranglo’.

‘Ranglo’ is a character taken from the Gujarati Folk theatre of ‘Bhavai’. ‘Bhavai’ is a very ancient folk theatre, where the man used to talk about his process of life, express through emotions before the Goddess ‘Umiya mata’ which is the ‘Kul Devi’ of a particular community of Gujarat. Dr. Jayanti Patel has used this ‘Ranglo’ on stage, radio, television, through the cartoons and write-ups with humour about the sadness of the world – ‘Maya’.

The alchemy of self lies in studying one’s Self. Jayanti studied himself through Ranglo and Ranglo played many roles, Lover (Valentino), Bhamto (Tartuff), Advo (Hippie), Vanio (Pennypincher), Zandazulan (Warrior), Ranglo (Jayanti Patel).

With this ‘Ranglo’, he has also traveled around the world.
